How Zalla handles data on your device.

Zalla is a privacy-conscious web browser for iPhone. This policy explains what happens when you use the Zalla app. It is written for App Store users and reviewers.

Short version

Zalla does not create a Zalla account. Zalla does not run its own analytics or advertising SDK. Browsing data you keep in Zalla (tabs, bookmarks, history, downloads, home shortcuts, and settings) stays on your device unless you export it yourself. Websites you visit may still collect data under their own policies. That is normal for any browser.

Information Zalla stores on your device

Depending on how you use the app, Zalla may store on your iPhone:

• Browsing activity: page titles and URLs for history (non-private tabs), open tabs, and back/forward lists
• Library: bookmarks you save or import
• Downloads: files you download through Zalla, plus a local downloads list
• Home / new tab: shortcuts, recent chips preferences, and related personalization settings
• Preferences: appearance, accent theme, search engine, toolbar style, app icon preference, onboarding completion, and similar settings
• Tab previews: short-lived in-memory snapshots used for the tab switcher (not uploaded by Zalla)

Private tabs use a non-persistent website data store so they do not keep the same lasting website data as normal tabs.

Zalla does not sync this library to Zalla servers. There is no Zalla cloud account.

Information you may share with Apple or websites

• Websites: When you load a page, the site (and parties it uses) can receive your IP address, device details, cookies, and whatever you enter on that site. Zalla cannot rewrite every site’s privacy practices. Use Private tabs, clear browsing data, and choose search engines carefully if you want less tracking.
• Search engines: Searches you run through Zalla’s address bar are sent to the search engine you selected (for example DuckDuckGo). That engine’s privacy policy applies.
• Apple services: System features you opt into, such as saving an exported image to Photos, AutoFill / Apple Passwords, Share Sheet destinations, or iCloud Keychain, are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies. Zalla asks for Photos access only when you choose Save to Photos for Export As.
• App Store / TestFlight: Apple collects standard App Store and TestFlight diagnostics and purchase information under Apple’s terms.

What we do not collect

As of this policy, Zalla itself does not:

• Require or offer a Zalla login
• Operate a Zalla analytics, crash, or advertising backend that receives your browsing history
• Sell personal information
• Build advertising profiles about you

If that changes in a future version, this policy will be updated before the change ships.

Permissions

• Photos (add only): Used only if you choose Save to Photos when exporting an image.
• Network: Used to load websites and downloads you request.
• Local files / shares: Used when you import or export bookmarks HTML, share a page or file, or save downloads.

Children

Zalla is a general-audience browser. It is not directed at children under 13. Do not use Zalla to collect personal information from children.

Your choices

In Settings (and related screens) you can:

• Clear browsing data (history, website data, tabs as implemented in the app)
• Reset the app preferences (home shortcuts and related prefs as implemented; bookmarks may be kept)
• Delete downloads from the Downloads list
• Remove bookmarks and change home shortcuts
• Uninstall Zalla, which removes on-device app data subject to iOS behavior

Third-party links and content

Zalla displays third-party websites. Those sites are not controlled by Zalla. Their content, cookies, and policies are their responsibility.

International users

Zalla is offered through the App Store. Data you keep in the app remains on your device. Contact us if you have a privacy request we can reasonably fulfill for an Individual developer app with no Zalla account system.

Changes

We may update this policy when the app’s behavior changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy for that version.
